Non-alcoholic games for an epic Eurovision party

Party with shiny confetti and sunglasses

The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the most anticipated events of the year for fans of both music and sequins across the globe. Hosted in Liverpool this year on behalf of last year's winners Ukraine, Eurovision parties across the UK are bound to be more sparkly and fun than ever. For those who don't drink, traditionally alcohol-fuelled parties can be tricky, but they don't need to be. Here are a variety of games you can play to jmake the most out of your Eurovision viewing experience, whatever your drinking status.

Eurovision Bingo

Create a bingo card with a list of common Eurovision tropes, such as a wind machine, a key change, a performer in a glittery outfit, Graham Norton being snarky - the sillier the better. When you spot one of these at any point during the live show, mark it off on your card. The first person to get a full row, or a full card wins a prize!

Eurovision Trivia

Prepare a list of Eurovision-themed trivia questions and divide your guests into teams. Each team takes turns answering questions, and the team with the most correct answers at the end wins.

If you want to be able to join in too, get each person to prepare their own round of a few questions!

Song Charades

Write the names of iconic Eurovision tunes on small pieces of paper and put them into a hat. Each person takes a turn picking a song and then acting out the song's title or lyrics without speaking. The first team to guess the correct song gets a point.

Who am I?

This game always brings the laughter. Everyone writes the name of a celebrity on a sticky note, and then you each pick one to stick to your forehead. Taking it in turns to ask only yes or no questions, players have to guess who they are. For real Eurovision aficionados, you could try using only past Eurovision acts!

Ring of Fire

If you're looking for more of a drinking game, then you can't go wrong with Ring of Fire. This game is fun for all, whether their drink contains alcohol or not. The rules will vary from group to group, and they're very easily adaptable so it's a brilliant game if you're at a party with both drinkers and non-drinkers. You can find a list of rules here, but you could definitely get creative and make up your own that fit with the Eurovision theme!

Word association

For an even simpler "drinking" game, choose a word or phrase that's commonly used during Eurovision, and every time that word is said, everyone takes a sip of their drink. For those who don't wish to do this with alcohol, you could choose a spicy drink such as ginger ale for that added extra thing. This is a great way to stay engaged with the show, as well as enjoying some friendly competition.

With these game ideas, you and your friends can enjoy the Eurovision Song Contest without feeling left out of the fun. So grab some snacks and your favourite non-alcoholic drinks, and get ready to party like it's Eurovision!

If you're spending the evening watching it outside of your house at a venue, don't forget to rate your experience. Your rating really helps make it easier for others living the sober life to decide where they're going next time.
